Why Mental Health Needs To Be some Discussed?

what is mental health?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and through adulthood. illness Mental  refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behavior. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors. Many people have mental health concerns from time to time.

This can feel just as bad as a physical illness, or even worse. Mental health problems affect around one in four people in any given year. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

These are the some basic signs of mental illness which people feel and i felt during my depression period.

Receiving A Diagnosis

Knowing warning signs can help let you know if you need to speak to a professional. For many people, getting an accurate diagnosis is the first step in a treatment plan.
Unlike diabetes or cancer, there is no medical test that can accurately diagnose mental illness. A mental health professional will use the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association, to assess symptoms and make a diagnosis. The manual lists criteria including feelings and behaviors and time limits in order to be officially classified as a mental health condition.
After diagnosis, a health care provider can help develop a treatment plan that could include medication, therapy or other lifestyle changes.

Finding Treatment(finding help)

Getting a diagnosis is just the first step; knowing your own preferences and goals is also important. Treatments for mental illness vary by diagnosis and by person. There’s no “one size fits all” treatment. Treatment options can include medication, counseling (therapy), social support and education.

Conclusion (personal thoughts): It's ok to have mental problem(you are not a mental or something. Sometimes we need mental support so that we can do thing more efficiently) it is not something we should be shameful for. Sometimes there’s point in life where you don’t understand anything there are a lot of reasons for this. Sometimes it’s because of some family reasons, personal reasons (boyfriend/girlfriend breakup & patch-up reasons), not able to win any competition or exams etc. The matter is not about the reason it’s about how you deal with it. It’s your friends and family members who help you to come out of this situation. But remember it’s only you who needs to take the first stepI feel it is important for us to come out and share our story with everyone. We all have fear about “log kya kahenge” who are these people? How do they matters to us? It’s you who is suffering not them. There are feeling like we should not talk about it and keep it hush. There are lack of awareness. We all should help each other by understanding not by judging.

We cannot always control everything that happens to us in this life, but we can control how we respond. Many struggles come as problems and pressures that sometimes cause pain. Others come as temptations and trials. Life will become boring if we will always have good days. It’s okay to have problems. It’s all about how we deal with it.
